Peer Educator workshops are regularly offered to Athletic teams, College Houses, and First-year Floors.
You can also request a workshop for any group on campus by emailing OGVPHE director Rachel Reinke at rreinke@bowdoin.edu.
Workshops the Peer Educators currently offer:
- Encouraging Positive Party Outcomes
- Participants will understand how physical spaces, substance use, and power dynamics affect the outcomes of a party. They will also work to build a culture of care and active upstander-ship within party spaces.
- Consent
- Participants will feel more confident in their understanding of consent, and feel empowered and willing to practice these concepts in their daily lives.
- Relationship Goals: Practicing Healthy Communication
- Participants will practice setting and respecting boundaries. They will also learn and apply communication skills, develop an understanding of their own wants and how to advocate for their needs, and practice empathy for others.
- Sex & Intimacy
- Participants will develop an all-encompassing definition of sex. They will also learn how to engage in sexual activity safely and pleasurably.
- Alcohol 101
- Participants will gain a better understanding of how alcohol affects them, and equip themselves with tools to make healthy decisions that improve the safety of their community.
- Compassion in Action: Supporting Friends Through Harm
- Participants will learn how to support their peers who have experienced harm in a way that restores agency. They will also gain a better understanding of both on and off resources for those who have experienced harm / sexual violence, as well as what support is available to them as the supporter.
